John Leyton

Hello Everybody,
Welcome to my February and March newsletter.

Let me begin by hoping that all of you enjoyed the seasonal break and were not too inconvenienced by the less than clement weather than most of us experienced in early December.
I would like to thank Terry Baker and the Committee at King Stanley Royal British Legion club for their hospitality on New Year’s Eve and making The Flames and myself so welcome. Also a big thanks, yet again, to Ralph, Richard, Alan, Jim and all the helpers at the Amersham Rock ‘n’ Roll Club for the part that they played in making The Craig Douglas Benefit Concert such a very worthwhile and enjoyable event. I know that this is endorsed by Craig and all my fellow artistes who performed that evening. Looking further ahead on Saturday 15th October I am performing at Amersham with Charlie Gracie, Linda Gail Lewis, Chas McDevitt and The Flames. Full details are on the gig guide and tickets are now on sale.

The Flames – Joe Meek Link.
Shayne Driscoll Joining 'The Flames' as rhythm guitarist is Shayne Driscoll. Shayne has a family Joe Meek link. His Mother Ella was Manager of the legendary RGM group ‘The Syndicats’. The link being further consolidated by Shayne’s elder brother, the late Kevin Driscoll, who was the bass player of the group and sang vocals on the groups 2nd single.
'The Flames' are currently touring with me, Mike Berry and Jet Harris. The groups’ solo appearances in 2011 will include the annual Pipeline Instrumental Convention being held on Easter Sunday 24th April at the Metropolitan Police Sports Club, Aldenham Road, Bushey, Herts, WD23 2TR. Whilst I would have liked to attend I thank the Society for their kind invitation but personal commitments prevent me from doing so. However I’m sure that many other artistes associated with Joe will be present.
