BIGGLES.

Biggles

Eleven Biggles stories from books written by Capt. W.E. Johns were made into television programmes, in total 44 episodes were made and transmitted. The series was initially transmitted on a weekly basis, commencing in April 1960 and from July 1960 were transmitted twice weekly.

The Cast:
Neville Whiting – Biggles.
John Leyton – Ginger.
David Drummond – Bertie.

  • Biggles At The Home Front – 3 episodes (1st – 15th April 1960).
  • Biggles Flies North – 5 episodes (22nd April – 20th May 1960).
  • Biggles Follows On – 6 episodes (27th May – 29th June 1960).
  • Biggles Takes Charge – 6 episodes (1st July – 20th July 1960). Biggles On Mystery Island – 3 episodes (22nd – 29th July 1960). Biggles Baits The Trap – 6 episodes (3rd –19th August 1960). Biggles At World’s End – 3 episodes (24th – 31st August 1960). Biggles Turns The Scale – 3 episodes (2nd – 9th September 1960). Biggles Springs The Lock – 3 episodes (14th – 21st September 1960). Biggles In The East – 3 episodes (23rd-30th September 1960). Biggles On The Nile – 3 episodes (5th – 12th October 1960).

The episodes were either transmitted ‘live’ or taped and produced at Granada TV Studios in Quay Street, Manchester.
