John with Marian Puttock and Nathan

Hello Everybody,
Welcome to my December and January 2010 newsletter.

To say that 2009 has been an ‘interesting’ year is perhaps an understatement and not being a politician, thank goodness, I refrain from serious comment. I know from communications from many of you that you have enjoyed our many concerts and recent CD release. We are planning many more concerts and are considering another CD release in 2010. I have used the word ‘privilege’ many times before and so I make no apology that I still consider it a real privilege that so many of you still come to see me in concert and are still following my career after so many years. 2010 marks my 50th year in the recording industry an event that I could never have considered when commencing my career all those years ago.

Beatles to Bowie
‘The 60’s Exposed’ Exhibition, National Portrait Gallery.
I would like to thank the staff at the National Portrait Gallery for their kind invitation to attend a private viewing of this really excellent exhibition. I know from many of you that have already attended the exhibition that you have also enjoyed visiting. The exhibition runs at the Gallery until 24th January 2010 and then goes out on a regional tour. Full details are available at

Beatles to Bowie - The Book.
A really excellent hard-back book is available that features the exhibits that are on show, including an unpublished picture of myself taken by noted photographer Dezo Hoffman. The book can be purchased either at the National Portrait Gallery or from their website. I would like to thank them for allowing us to use the picture of the Beatles.

We have added photographs from the very successful Help For Heroes Fete held in Yapton in August to the photo gallery page of the website.

John and Madeline Smith As mentioned in my October newsletter Terry Isted has kindly supplied us with some photographs he took during the filming whilst we were on location in Minehead, Somerset and on Exmoor.
We have added these to the Fans page of the website. A couple of the pictures feature myself with one of the co-stars Actress Madeline Smith. Madeline has featured in many films during her career and many will remember her from her appearances in some of the Hammer Horror Films.

We have added tracks from the latest Lone Rider Records CD release ‘Twangs For The Melody’ to the website’s Jukebox along with a short Christmas message from myself.

Classic Bike Guide I have recently been interviewed by Justin Dealey for his BBC 3 Counties Radio ‘Schools Out’ programme and by Feature Writer Steven Myatt for an article that is being published in the January edition of Classic Bike Guide magazine. This edition will be available from your local stockist prior to Christmas.

And finally, May I take this opportunity to wish all of you a ‘Very Merry Christmas’ and ‘A Happy New Year’.

Always yours.
