Hello Everybody,
Welcome to my May and June newsletter. The last 2 months have been a busy period but fortunately I have now recovered from the bout of flu that prevented me appearing at The New Ritz Ballroom in Brighouse and somewhat limited my attendance at the UK Digital Premiere of 'The Great Escape' at the Bradford Film Festival. The Flames I would like to thank 'The Flames' for performing so successfully at The New Ritz Ballroom in my enforced absence. I am pleased to say that both The Flames and myself will be returning to the venue in December.

'Jersey Boys'.
My wife and I were very pleased to accept a kind invitation from our friends Bob and Judy Gaudio to attend a preview at the Prince Edward Theatre of 'Jersey Boys' - the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Should you get a chance to see the show I can recommend it. It really is a great show and well worth a visit. We have known Bob and Judy (nee Parker) for many years, a point of interest is that Judy co-wrote 2 of the Four Seasons 70's hits, 'Silver Star' and 'December 63 (Oh' What A Night)' with husband Bob.

The Great Escape.
Also I should like to thank Ben Eagle and Thomas Hauersley for the photographs from the UK Digital Premiere of The Great Escape that appear on the Photo Gallery page of the website. Hopefully this 'new' version of the film will eventually get a release on DVD. Sadly another of the World War 2 heroes and POW at Stalag Luft 111, Sydney Dowse has passed away at the age of 89. I was most fortunate to have met Sydney and other POW's at The Imperial War Museum in 2004. For me it was a real honour and privilege to have been in their presence. What they did was extraordinary. My thoughts go out to Sydney's family.

In April I also visited Sweden and met up again with many Swedish fans and my friend Hans Edler. My thanks to the Tom Rocker Band who backed me and hopefully I will be returning to Sweden at some future date. I'm always very impressed with the manner in which I'm treated in that great Country.

Essential Elvis Concert and Magazine.
Elvis The May edition of the 'Essential Elvis' magazine contains an interview that I did in March with Trevor Simpson, author of the excellent 'Small Town Saturday Night' book. This edition of the magazine is available for purchase from Andrew Hearn, the editor, at www.essentialelvis.com telephone 01903 525917. Hopefully the article puts the record straight for once and for all concerning my meetings with 'The King'. It's true to say that my meetings with Elvis have been the subject of much 'misquotation' over the years and I have tried to put the record straight. In preparation for my appearance with The Flames, Craig Douglas and The Tornados at the Essential Elvis concert at The Old Market, Hove, East Sussex on Saturday 19th July The Flames and myself have been rehearsing some new numbers that are associated with Elvis. The other main attraction is the appearance of Jeanne LeMay, Elvis's Graceland secretary. Click here for details.

'Small Town Saturday Night'.
My mention of Trevor Simpson's excellent book has reminded me that very few copies remain from the original print run and Trevor has informed us that all stock should be sold out within a few weeks. If you have not yet managed to order a copy it's well worth obtaining one. It is available from Trevor's website www.smalltownsaturdaynight.co.uk.
The 2nd Volume is scheduled to be ready by the year end and as with the first Volume all proceeds are going to The Calderdale Hospital Radio appeal as are the proceeds from 'Small Town Saturday Night - The Dance' on Thursday 15th May at The Victoria Theatre, Halifax.

And finally.
Bick Ford In April 1963 my then manager, Robert Stigwood arranged for national journalist Robert Bickford to spend a few days with me whilst I attended recording sessions and various functions. Robert also became a 'pop' singer, using the name Bick Ford. Thank you Mark Newson for supplying the picture that appeared at that time in the NME.

Always yours.
