Radio Interviews.
During October I have been interviewed by Kev Castle for his programme on Nottingham Hospital Radio and by John Cavanagh for an upcoming BBC Radio 4 programme, the details of which will be in my December newsletter.

The Great Escape.
One of the great pleasures of my life has been to not only appear in this classic movie but in meeting some of those who were actually held captive within Stalag Luft 111 during the Second World War. The Great Escape
The picture at the top of this newsletter was taken on March 20th 2005 when I, along with actor Angus Lennie attended The Great Escape Exhibition at the Aces High Gallery. Pictured are Jack Lyon, ‘Jimmy’ James, Alan Bryett and Ken Rees. All great characters, real gentlemen and real heros. It was my pleasure to be in their company.

Whilst on the subject of the film ‘The Great Escape’ I would like to send my condolences to the family of ‘Bud Ekins’ who has recently died. What a great stuntman Bud was. I have many fond memories of the time ‘Bud’ was filming with us and some of the activities we got up to with ‘the stunt bikes’ after each days filming.
His obituary appeared in The Times (below)

Bud Ekins obituary

‘Barefaced Lies and Boogie Woogie’ Jools Hollandis the title of the recently published autobiography of Jools Holland. In his book Jools recounts my involvement in the formation of ‘Squeeze’ when I was a director of a management company. I last met Jools a few years ago when I was doing a talk on a Cruise Liner and Jools and his Orchestra were performing on the ship. I would like to wish Jools, a very talented musician much success with his book.

And finally.
‘Danger Within’ – thank you to Tony McCabe for reminding me that I made a very ‘brief’ appearance in this British Lion production made in 1959. This was ‘also’ a prisoner of war film and featured Dennis Price, Richard Attenborough and Richard Todd in starring roles.
‘The Invisible Man’ – Episode 22 – ‘Man in Disguise’ also made in 1959. Again my very ‘brief’ appearance as an extra is I’m informed available on a recently released DVD box set of the series.
Both appearances were made when I was still at Drama School.

Always yours.
