Windsor - Sixties Icons

Hello Everyone,
Welcome to my September/October Newsletter.

Telstar – Joe Meek The Movie.
I have completed the filming of my cameo role in this major film production that I understand is scheduled for cinema screening at Easter next year. I play the part of Sir Edward Lewis who was the MD of Decca records in the early 60’s. Major roles are being played by Con O’Neill as Joe Meek, Pam Ferris as Mrs Violet Shenton and Kevin Spacey who is playing Joe’s one time backer, Major Banks. Other 60’s artists such as Clem Cattini and Jess Conrad are also playing cameo roles.
The October edition of Mojo magazine features an exclusive article on the film.

Joe Meek – Arena TV Documentary.
BBC 4 has recently shown again the 1991 documentary film on the life of Joe Meek that I appeared in.

‘The Lost’ BBC recording Sessions.
During the period August 1961-February 1964 I recorded many songs exclusively for the BBC that have not yet been released or transmitted since the original programmes were aired in the 60’s. These include sessions, arranged by my then Musical Director and good friend Charles Blackwell, that I recorded for BBC radio programmes such as ‘Saturday Club’, ‘Easy Beat’, ‘Parade of the Pops’ and ‘Go Man Go’.
Thanks to some really excellent research recently carried out by Rob Bradford we have been able to obtain from the BBC archives full details of the sessions that I recorded for the BBC. There are many ‘surprises’ within the list of the songs that I recorded and include songs that were originally performed by ‘The Beatles’ and ‘Elvis Presley’.
We are still attempting to locate copies of these tapes for hopefully a future ‘official’ release.
Rob has also uncovered details of some BBC TV appearances that I made in the early 60’s. It is our intention to publish this information at some future date.
