Welcome to my latest newsletter.
Western Allstars I am very pleased that my Swedish tour went extremely well. It was interesting to visit areas of the country that I had never previously seen and to re-visit familiar towns and cities. Sweden is a great Country and the Swedish are great people. My thanks go not only to them but also my fellow artistes on the tour- The Swinging Blue Jeans, The Marmalade and The Fortunes. A big thank you to you all, in particular to The Fortunes who kindly agreed to back me. Hopefully I will be invited back again.

As I mentioned in my March newsletter I completed a very successful 3 day session at Western-Star recording studios and we now have 19 tracks in the ‘can’ for future release, the majority being tracks that I have never recorded before.

This month we are selecting the 14 tracks that will be issued on my new CD provisionally titled ‘Look for a Star’ (The Western-Star Sessions Vol 1). A further 3 tracks will be issued on Alan Wilson’s ‘Joe Meek Shall Inherit the Earth’ Vol 2 Tribute CD. Alan’s CD has a planned release date of May and we will be taking advance orders shortly.

I am so pleased with the results that we have achieved at Western-Star that further recording sessions are now being planned for later this year. The recordings we have already completed include me singing my own versions of 60’s tracks recorded by Joe Meek for other artistes, some great rock ‘n’ roll tracks and even a touch of ‘rockabilly’. These include a song called ‘Forbidden Love’ which has been specially written for me by Bob Bufoy of Jack Rabbit Slim on which Bob, Alan and the backing musicians have really captured the great feel of many of Joe Meek and Geoff Goddard’s original songs.

Additionally I am very pleased that Charles Blackwell, my original producer, assisted Alan with one of the tracks we recorded. Apart from the guest artistes I mentioned last month, Alan Wilson’s Western All - Stars, Ben Turner (Drums), Steve Holbrook (Keyboards) and Steve Whitehouse (Double Bass) aided by Joe Moretti on Sax have really made the CD something special.
Peter Williams especially for you
Both my new CD and Peter Williams Instrumental Guitar tribute to myself will be issued on a totally new label, Lone Rider Records, but more about that exciting development during the next few months. Peter’s latest CD, ‘Especially for You– Vol 1’ is released on 1st May and can be ordered from our shop.

Plans for my ‘New’ World Cup 3 track CD Single, to be released in May, are well advanced and we are about to shoot a promotional film to support the release. More details will be announced shortly.

May also sees the first ‘official’ release on DVD of ‘Guns at Batasi’.
